I’ve had the pleasure of designing three t-shirts for the U.S. National Whitewater Center.  The latest design, call the “Current” shirt, is a women’s design featuring a swirling pattern, meant to represent the way the current moves through a river, forming eddies and waves.  Jennifer and the other folks at the USNWC have been great to work with, and I look forward to doing more work with them in the future.

The design presented some printing challenges, as we decided to run it over the sleeve seam a bit.  Luckily, I had the best print shop in the world, Image Ink, to take care of it.  Thanks to those guys for making my design look sharp.

I did this piece for a project that wound up not happening.

I had seizures…I don’t anymore, hopefully.
Did these collages as a document of what that time was like, most of the pictures are as they were happening, or as I was going bat-shit crazy from the medication they had me on. Sort of personal, perhaps lame and pretentious, but make of it what you will. I hope to finish this series one day.

Well, I just finished this series. I didn’t think I ever would, I didn’t know how to end it.
It came to me today.

Thank you to everyone who has left nice comments of support. I really appreciate it, it means a lot.

Also thank you to my Dr. during that time. Dr._____, you stuck your neck out for me and gave it to me straight, and I didn’t really honor your advice like I should have, for that I am sorry.

Barrett, thank you for being there for me.

There were lots of other people who were there for me during that time, who took care of me, pulled me up, kept me going. You know who you are, I am indebted to you all.

And finally thank you to my friend Maria, who motivated me to revisit this work and finish it.

Did this while I should’ve been working on other things…

Recently finished the DVD box art and disc face for Effort Inc’s “The Eddy Feeling” released under the Rapid Transit brand. Spencer wanted a look that expressed both the traditional and non-traditional aspects of the film, which explores the lives of paddlers as they balance work and kayaking.

I immediately got stoked on this photo by Chris Stafford of my friend Jeremy Pou. Great shot. I wanted a cool blue watery look, and the photo worked with it perfectly. There are shots of water, and a close up of a leaf in there in the layers.

To give it a personal touch, as the movie is very much about personalities, I hand wrote out several snippets from the actual interviews.

Heed the advice.

I had the chance to work with Garrett Bryant, Jennifer Nix and the US National Whitewater Center again to do another design. Garrett was really up front about what he wanted, and it was definitely the sort of thing I like to design. It was a fun project and the shirt came out really nicely. I was stoked to see they changed the white in the design to a bone color…proof that a client who is truly interested in the design process can impact a project in a really positive way.

My friend Mitchell asked me to do some flyer designs for his band, The Oatmeal Conspiracy a few years back. Ever since then I’ve regularly done flyers, stickers, etc for them. Each with an “oatmeal” theme.

The first thing I thought of when I heard the band’s name, was the iconic image of a certain secret agent, wielding a spoon instead of a gun. This was the first design I did for them, and it is still my favorite. I’ll post some more of the OC posters soon.
